March is one of the most hopeful moments of the year, every day brings a little more colour, scent and promise - a time that invites us to welcome the garden indoors and celebrate the beauty of Spring's fleeting treasures.
Join us for a day immersed in the world of Spring bulbs, learning how to style and display them in ways that honour both their natural character and the changing season.
The day will begin with a tour of the farm and a visit to our polytunnel, where we will share the story behind our speciality Spring Bulbs - from iris and crocuses, to hyacinths and fritillaria. You will learn about some of our favourite varieties, how they are grown on our farm, and the role they play in bringing the first abundance of the year to life.
Following a light seasonal lunch, we will gather in the poly for a demonstration exploring the art of the Spring tablescape. Using planted terracotta pots, antique vessels, kenzans and freshly cut stems, we will show you how to create thoughtful arrangements in our typical Hortus style that feel natural, abundant and deeply connected to the season.
Together, we will explore the principles of scale, layering, texture and placement, discovering how styling can transform a table and create a memorable atmosphere, whatever the occasion. Along the way, we will share practical tips for displaying bulbs in the home, helping you make the most of their beauty from the moment they emerge.
You will then create your own seasonal display to take home, working with a selection of Spring bulbs and natural materials foraged from our land here in the Hampshire South Downs.
Whether you are preparing for Spring celebrations, hosting friends and family, or simply seeking inspiration for your own home, this workshop offers a chance to slow down, connect with the season, and celebrate the quiet magic of spring.
A seasonal lunch and refreshments are provided, and we will have an outdoor fire to keep us all warm.
