Flowers for us are the song of the earth
Grown regeneratively in our cutting gardens and Hampshire fields, our stems are the heart of our working landscape, shared with livestock and wildlife, whence they return.
The Studio
Hortus Poeticus is a Hampshire-based floral studio working
with English flowers of character and provenance.
Our practice is shaped by season, place, and a considered approach
to composition that values restraint, atmosphere, and depth.
Based on our farm, we grow and source with care, allowing the land and the moment in the year to lead each arrangement. Our wedding and event work is narrative-led and closely attuned to its setting, favouring quiet distinction over display.
Hortus Poeticus operates as both a floral studio and a cultural practice, approaching flowers as objects of both meaning and beauty.
Everything we create is guided by judgment, sensitivity,
and an enduring sense of place.

Our values
Season & Provenance
We work with English flowers grown in step with the year, chosen for their character, temperament, and sense of timing. This closeness to the growing cycle brings integrity to the work: a natural proportion, a freshness of material, and an understanding of when a flower truly belongs.
Judgement & Depth
Our work is shaped by judgement rather than excess, with each decision made to add meaning, clarity, and cultural depth. Materials are chosen and placed with care, allowing compositions to feel generous, layered, and considered rather than overworked.
Stewardship of Place
Based on our Hampshire farm, we work in dialogue with the land, the seasons, and the settings we design for. Our floristry is shaped by an understanding of context — environmental, architectural, and cultural.
