At Hortus Poeticus, we have long experience creating funeral and sympathy flowers, and we understand both the emotional weight of the moment and the practical considerations that surround it. We are familiar with the protocols, timings and expectations involved, and work closely with families, celebrants and funeral directors to ensure everything unfolds with ease and respect.
Our approach begins with listening.
Where helpful, we take time to understand the person being remembered, their character, the gardens they loved, or the flowers and colours that feel meaningful. From this, we create floral compositions using seasonal English-grown stems, chosen for their tone, presence and honesty.
If possible, we always encourage a visit to the farm, giving loved ones the opportunity to connect with the land and see where their flowers will come from. We often find that this can be a moment of real calm, and an opportunity to slow down during what is, understandably, a challenging time.

Our work includes coffin sprays and wreaths, as well as flowers for funerals, memorial services, wakes and receptions. Whether the request is for something traditional and understated, or more personal in nature, each piece is made with care, imagination and close attention to what feels appropriate.
We aim for flowers that sit quietly within the moment, offering comfort, marking a life, and bringing a sense of calm when words are often difficult to find.
