A winter afternoon at Hortus Poeticus, making a wreath from the season’s finest offerings.
Join us at the farm for a festive workshop centred around the beauty of the winter landscape and the art of making something by hand. Guided by one of our florists, you’ll learn how we approach wreath-making at Hortus - selecting materials for their beauty, and combining them to create something abundant, natural and entirely your own.
Working with sustainably sourced moss and a generous palette of seasonal evergreens, you’ll build your wreath from the ground up, adding layers of winter foliage, berries, fruits, seedheads and other natural details. There will be plenty to choose from, allowing each wreath to develop its own personality.
Choose from three levels of wreath-making:
£130 - The Classic Wreath
A beautifully abundant Christmas wreath, rich in seasonal evergreen foliage and natural winter details.
£180 - The Deluxe Wreath
A larger, more generous wreath with an expanded palette of foliage, berries, fruits and gathered materials for extra depth, texture and presence.
£250 - The Exceptional Wreath
Our most lavish wreath-making experience, with a truly abundant selection of exceptional seasonal materials and the freedom to create a substantial statement piece — generous, atmospheric and full of Hortus character.
The emphasis throughout is on natural materials, thoughtful composition and enjoying the process rather than striving for perfection. You’ll leave with a wreath made entirely by you, ready to bring the beauty and scent of the winter garden to your door.
The workshop takes place at our Hampshire flower farm, within the rolling landscape of the South Downs. Warming drinks and festive nibbles are, naturally, provided.
No previous floristry experience is needed - just a willingness to make something beautiful take some tie for yourself before the festivities settle in.
All materials and tools are provided.
