It is one of our landmark stems here at Hortus and likewise captivated, we invite you to celebrate the artistry of the tulip in this very special, Dutch Masters inspired Tulip Masterclass. Spend the day on the flower farm, exploring our renowned tulip varieties, learning Hortus thinking on designing with tulips, create your own arrangement, setting it amongst antique treasures to create a classical still life, which we will photograph for you to take home. A delicious lunch, Hortus guidance, and a notebook of favourite varieties are included.

The Tulip Masterclass at Hortus Poeticus invites you to experience tulips in all their obsessive, addictive glory, inspired by the timeless compositions of Dutch Masters’ still life paintings as they captured their fleeting, sumptuous beauty. Tulips have always been greater than the sum of even their sumptuous parts and have an ability to capture emotion as no other. This is a full day celebrating the beauty, colour, and elegance of these very special stems.

Spend the day exploring our tulip beds, learning how we grow and select our varieties. Discover the artistry behind designing arrangements that celebrate colour, movement, and form. Learn how having created the floral arrangement, it was then set into a most considered composition, a still life, to further enhance its emotional reach.

Members of our Hortus team will demonstrate the Hortus thinking and approach to creating a tulip arrangement, before you will create your own. Once complete, you will have the chance to set your arrangement amongst antique treasures and natural artefacts to create your own still life setting, before it being photographed and a digital copy sent to you as a keepsake. Vessels, tools, and flowers are provided, ensuring you can fully immerse yourself in the creative process. This is a small class and numbers will be limited.

A delicious lunch is included, along with a notebook of our favourite tulip varieties to take home.
