Heritage & Speciality Narcissi

Ivory, white, cream, buttermilk, clotted cream, pale yellow, primrose, paprika, lemon, peach, apricot and eau de nil; these are the colours we begin to welcome again from our heritage and speciality narcissi collection, together with their life-enhancing scent.

Narcissi are essential Spring flowers in the Hortus lexicon from early March to May, during which time the role they play and who they play it with, in vase or arrangement, differs significantly as the cast around them changes.

Focal, counterpoint, supporting, or just dancing through, they can be the centre of attention or provide nuance, depth, or sparkle. Spring would not be Spring without these charm of these stems, their simple grace and natural elegance sitting perfectly with the season's freshness.

We have been selecting the most beautiful narcissi we can source for over 15 years here at HP HQ, reaching back long before the idea of Hortus was even conceived. Over 50 varieties have now made their home with us; we trial in small numbers first and if they meet our exacting criteria we then grow in larger quantities, always making sure we have the right characters for the exact part of the season we wish to use them in.

We may hold a Narcissi workshop this Spring when ours are in the full flood of their beauty, but until Spring arrives, fixing a date is hazardous. We may yet to do so at short notice, so if you are interested please email us and we will be in touch.

Otherwise our narcissi will be finding their way into our specialist flower arrangers boxes, vases, bouquets and arrangements in the next few weeks and beyond. Find them in our webshop or follow us on Instagram for details.
